The Anne Frank diary

Ballet of the State Theatre Košice

About performance

Contemporary dance project by the Ballet of the State Košice is inspired by the true story of a Jewish family that was in hiding in Amsterdam during World War II. Anne Frank captured their life in her diary. Her entries end with an entry she wrote just days before soldiers discovered her and her family, to have them deported to the extermination camp. Nonetheless, her diary has been preserved. Her father Otto Frank, the only family member to survive the Shoah, arranged for the publication of the diary after the war. Directed and choreographed by Ondrej Šoth, the production features Košice Ballet soloists and corps de ballet, with SND Drama Company actress Táňa Pauhoffová in the lead role of Anne Frank.
